Very present in the Bamiléké tradition, the dish of Taro Yellow Sauce is a great symbol in the West Cameroon region. However, for ages this dish has been traditionally prepared and consumed by the Ngemba people of the North-West region of Cameroon (where it comes from), under the name "achu soup" or Achu Soup.
It consists of boiled and pounded taro, canwa (lime stone), water, spices and palm oil. Palm oil changes the color of the soup to yellow, which explains the name "Achu soup" also known as yellow sauce.
