The sea bass is a very popular fish. It has long been targeted by trawlers and purse seiners, mainly during the spawning period, when yields are very high due to the high concentration of adults who group together to reproduce. Outside of these periods, the bass returns to solitary behavior and is captured by these vessels in a more accidental manner. This species then becomes the target of anglers and recreational fishermen.
